Piggy Back - Clark's Grebe - 8"H x 12"L x 7"W

This little family is named "Piggyback"; they are Clark's Grebes. A wonderful diving bird endemic to the western US.  I have always been fascinated by the adult's mating rituals which include their famous synchronized water dancing.  I also love the way the parents carry their chicks on their backs like their more famous cousins, the loons.
