The Northern Jacana is a very interesting bird that is very seldom seen out in the open. They live in the marsh land in the southeastern half of the United States. When in search of food, they almost appear to be walking on the water among the slightly submerged vegetation. These birds are able to do this because of their extremely long toes which gives them a somewhat clumsy looking appearance. However, they are able to move about gracefully among the vegetation. I wanted to portray this bird in its natural environment. The golden club plant offers a contrast against the bird’s chestnut-colored  plum
