His wife Lilly does the painting, her ability to balance boldness and natural gradation are what really bring the piece to life. The Nottelmans are a well-known artistic duo, and devoted conservationists.
Ruddy Ducks are compact, thick-necked waterfowl with seemingly oversized tails that they habitually hold upright.
