“I’ve always loved Indigo Blue Buntings. It was fun to paint something so vibrant blue!  Interestingly enough the bird’s actual feathers lack blue pigment. Their jewel-like color comes instead from microscopic structures in the feathers that refract and reflect blue light! I had to use blue pigment paint to create the painting of course.”
