A SHORT COLORFIELD CYLINDER- These pieces could be considered as the most classic shapes of the Colorfield series. This piece has mulitple colors including pinks, reds, yellow, orange and more creating a beautiful piece of art.
We find the simple design, complimented with the complex surface imagery, can make for a truly modular piece. This bright Colorfield Vessel is like a drawing on glass. The intense colors and the millefiori patterns on the piece are each unique and different on both sides of the vessel, with multi-colors including mostly bright and neon colors that are "drawn" by Rural Wisconsin Glassblower Wes Hunting. Wes Hunting has been working with glass for over thirty years. He is known for his incredible skill with cane and murrini as well as remarkably intricate, abstract patterns drawn on hot glass. These vessels are the first to dawn the Colorfield imagery. The title “colorfield” refers to the intense color and patterns which Wes “draws” onto the glass surface at temperatures exceeding 1,600 degrees. Much of Wes’s artistic style is his masterful rendering of the Italian glasswork technique called “millefiori”, which translates to a thousand flowers. The slim profile allows them to sit comfortably atop any narrow shelf or mantle. When placed in proximity of natural light, the complimentary color combinations may lightly shift along with the daylight. Each is unique and will vary slightly.
WES HUNTING: "Working in glass allows me to orchestrate a symphony of light and color. "
