CREATION SINGS- 12" x 18" Signed Print- by Sandy Hokanson.  In this original digital illustration by Sandy Hokanson, three Killdeer pause as they search for food along a sandy shore - perhaps the sound of creation ... "I've never drawn a Killdeer before - so I decided to do three. I often see these birds walking along the mudflats and sandy shore of the local reservoirs. They also hang out near the railroad tracks not far from my house and occasionally in the football field behind our house. Their distinctive call which sounds like their name announces spring as they are early to arrive ... and it won't be long now before I'll see them again."-- Sandy Hokanson- February 2023

Sandy: "For many years I painted in a realistic style using acrylics or watercolors.  Now I prefer the challenge of focusing less on every feather and more on creating a clean design of each bird." "Some of my finished works are created by making detailed drawing using permanent inks which are then scanned into my computer. Others are hand drawn directly into the computer using either a mouse or a special pen and pad.  Next I'll create a unique palette of colors to layer over the drawings.  Each color is a separate layer - which means some pieces can have up to 25 layers or more. The end result is a crisp, graphic illustration."
