SECOND POSITION is a Sandhill Crane sculpted about half of life size which makes this otherwise large bird very approachable as a table piece inside your home. I have sculpted this beautiful creature in what is described as the "wing spread - hold" position. The dances of the sandhill cranes are very often referred to as a bird ballet because of their grace complexity and variety of positions between partners and rivals. So, in looking for a name, it seemed obvious to name this piece for it's similarity to the second ballet position. Altogether a graceful and delicate presentation of a wonderful bird.- Jim Green
